Hi all. I just got this to happen in an emulator, and figured I'd share it;
This occurred in stage 1-3, "Shoutin Lava Lava Lava", in the PAL PlayStation version of the game which I was running in the Linux version of the emulator "pSX" ( psxemulator.gazaxian.com/ ). As we all know, there are only six Gobbos to a level, so this picture shouldn't be possible.
What I did was get to the last room of the stage (having played through it normally, and gotten all five of the Gobbos in the "main" part of the level, along with four of the coloured crystals), only to find that I had somehow missed one of the five coloured crystals necessary to open the door to rescue the final Gobbo in the stage. I then backtracked to the very beginning of the level to try to figure out where I went wrong. In doing so, I dropped back into the bonus room where the puzzle with the three "?" blocks that get swapped around is. For some reason, even though I had completed the puzzle successfully and picked up the Gobbo from it earlier, there was another Gobbo standing there! I picked him up too, giving me six Gobbos, and then proceeded to find the coloured gem I needed.
After exploding all of the sheep in the room at the very end of the stage, I picked up the Gobbo released in there, and of course ended up with one Gobbo too many.
I don't know if this is possible on either the real hardware, or the Saturn or Windows 95 versions of the game at this point, though I should be able to look into everything but the Windows 95 port at some point soon.
Additionally, I have just tried to replicate it quickly (and in the process not completing the preceding levels fully), and failed to do so, so it would appear that one other requirement for getting this to happen is to have all five gems and all six Gobbos on stages 1-1 and 1-2, as well as four gems and five Gobbos on stage 1-3.
I know that this is not a massively interesting post, but I thought it was kind of neat to have seven Gobbos.
