Some interesting things have been cropping up, Croc-wise, lately, especially on one of the internet's most popular search engines, Google - some old interviews from 2001 that somehow weren't very widely noticed back when they were originally given have been found there, and both of them mention Croc!
As you can see in this interview from May 3rd 2001, work was supposed to begin on a Croc 3 more than three years ago! Furthermore, according to this piece from August 7th 2001, a Croc racing game was also in the works. These pieces are quite interesting to see, and it makes you wonder what on Earth happened to those games - were they cancelled, or just put on hold?
The next bit of news that we have seeks to answer that. During the E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) exhibition a week or two ago in Los Angeles, a notice was placed on Argonaut's official website, stating that they were working on games for the new handheld consoles, the Nintendo DS, and the Sony PlayStation Portable. However, after this was reported by several gaming news sites, the information was mysteriously removed! "What does this have to do with Croc?", I hear you ask. Well, another bit of interesting information still remains on Argonaut's site, on their History page;
-----
" As well as releasing Carve, Malice & Powerdrome, Argonaut is developing Catwoman with Electronic Arts and developing sequels, licenses, and new IP for current and future platforms. "
-----
The emboldened text was emphasised by us - if Argonaut are working on sequels, then there is a relatively good chance of a new Croc game being produced. If anyone from Argonaut is reading this, then we here at Croc: Hero of the Gobbos would really appreciate hearing what you have to say on the matter. ;)
Either way, as things currently stand, it looks like there may still be hope for the future of our crocodilian hero yet!#nosmileys
