Why is a parkway called a parkway if you actually don't run around in grass and swing on swings?

How do I get to those level names?? I was searching through all the files I could find but I couldn't find the level names you described, rex. Sorry to be a nuisance, but I know next to nothing about hacking.

All the MP005_##.MAP maps are some sort of unfinished Ice slide level sequence. It's pretty fun if not a little repetitive, and they went all out with decorations, there's houses, igloos, trees, bumps in the slide, fall logs, etc. So it's possible these were planned but scrapped levels that couldn't make it into the game by ship date Pictures of that were published on IGN at the time.

I should do a youtube tutorial on it... but youtube hates my videos >.> Basically, open up Notepad, goto the GDATA folder thats in the Croc folder, then drag the file called 'MAPS.IDX' into the Notepad window, it should open in that window and you'll see a lot of lines of text (about 100 or so) Search for MP010_00.MAP by using the Find feature of Notepad (CTRL+F) That map is the first level's first room where you begin Croc, I suggest using this to test the beta levels, just make sure to BACK UP YOUR IDX FILE! The Ice slide levels are MP005_## (where ## is a two digit number) You need to replace MP010_00 with the map you want to test, and replace the map you want to test with the MP010_00 For instance if testing MP000_01: (Before) MP000_00.MAP,0,0,0,b MP000_01.MAP,0,0,0,b MP010_00.MAP,0,0,0,b (After) MP000_00.MAP,0,0,0,b MP010_00.MAP,0,0,0,b MP000_01.MAP,0,0,0,b Just make sure not to touch the lines that have .DEM in them Level list: MP006_## are all AI testing levels, this is where the various released ( and unreleased) creatures were tested. MP005_## are all the scrapped Ice Slide levels. MP000_## are geometry testing, this is where they tried to experiment with the levels look and physical touch. Do we have these archived someplace? Because the maps me and Andre have been playing on are missing textures and lack some sound effects. -EDIT- Andre and I have been experimenting with the textures/images of Croc, I managed to extract the Splash screen as a TGA file into Photoshop but... well it yielded freaky results (the colors were funky, I tried doing RGB swaps and stuff but nothing's worked... I have a hunch on why it's not working though) Andre also edited the crystal sprite, Croc loaded and played without a hitch, he even saw his changes to the Crystal. As of yet I've not been able to successfully extract and view a texture, but I feel I'm getting close, and I want to be able to finally answer the fans pleas for the backgrounds. I also managed to do something a little funny, I swapped Croc's and the generic Dantini's Eye texture xD it was a little funny to see Croc with tiny little pupils and Dantini's with these enormous pupils.

Hah! I was able to do it! ;D Those levels are weird. I need to get that HyperSnap-DX that Forte recommended. I gotta take some pictures!

Hi all, I created an own maps.idx file with most of the testing/beta levels. I only choosed the best levels (Most of these levels are only a blank area with one enemy...). You just need to extract maps.idx into the Croc/gdata folder and overwrite the old file (backup this file first!). Then you should be able to play the new maps like normal maps. Maybe you have to use a cheat (LLLLDRRLLDRDLUR) to access the beta maps (the last beta map is in Desert Island / "Leap of Faith"; when you try to run other levels the game will crash Happy testing! Andre and I spent at least 2 hours this morning discussing the maps and Andre made some headway: By moving the crate Next he experimented with other data, and got this to occur: Edit reason: replaced huge images with thumbnails.

(Sorry guys, been busy with life... really busy and still am) That's great Haruka Anyways, progress has been at a standstill... Andre and I have not had contact in a while and I'm very busy sorting out my life at the moment, but I promise to get back to it when everything settles down again.

I have a question about Croc 2, is it possible to rip models of the game? It would be extremely useful to create a map of the 4th Jigsaw Piece (but I'm planning for years in drawing by hand a map of the maze).
