First off, welcome one and all to the Croc: Hero of the Gobbos Forums! I hope you have a good time here.
When posting on the boards here, forum members are expected to stick to these rules, and show common courtesy and respect to fellow members.
Failure to follow any of the Forum Rules will first result in a warning, and if another offence is committed, you will be permanently banned. After all, one warning is more than enough to learn that you have to follow the rules that all new members are required to read.
Make sure you check back here once in while, in case new rules are added, or old rules are modified.
-----
Some important guidelines that apply to all rules here;
Trying to break the rules by using loopholes will not be tolerated - for example, just because we only say "No double-posting is allowed", it does not mean that it is alright to triple-post, quadruple-post, and so on. You have to use common sense; This isn't a courthouse - it's a community. You can't pretend that breaking the rules is ok by using wordplay.
Although the individual perceptions of the rules may well differ between the staff, here, rest assured that the enforcement of every rule will be done in a fair manner.
Please be aware that helping others to break the forum rules will result in the exact same punishment(s) being given to you as well as the rulebreaker(s) themselves.
All members of the forum will be treated equally, and with due respect - discrimation against any member(s), for any reason, will not be tolerated. For example, if, by some chance, you know somebody on the forums from a forum elsewhere, and have a problem with them, please do not bring it here.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. However, it will not be tolerated if you state them rudely, or use them to break the forum rules.
Don't forget, if you're joking about something, make sure you show it - you wouldn't want to get into trouble because it looked like you were breaking the forum rules, but weren't!
You don't need to frequently swear up a storm in order to demonstrate a point or state an opinion. However, there is no swear filter - please do not abuse this fact by cursing excessively (like, every few words), or one will be implemented.
Last of all, please bear in mind that just because certain behaviour is tolerated at other forums you may go to, it does not mean that the same behaviour will be allowed here.
1: No topics are allowed regarding politics, religion, race, or sexuality and other related matters. This is a board for talking about video games and fun stuff, not for headache-inducing debates.
2: Flaming (harassment and insulting of other members), spamming (posting meanlingless, pointless crap, such as one-word posts, advertising links to your site or those of others, or referrer-links to online timewaster games such as Outwar), trolling (acting like a complete jerk, coming close to breaking rules but then stopping just to be annoying, and trying to incite flamewars - sometimes also linked to Flaming), and bumping topics (pointlessly posting in threads in order to move them to the top of the forum) them will not be tolerated.
3: In addition to the above rule, harassment of any kind is NOT allowed or wanted here. Harassment is usually flaming, spamming, and trolling on a very large scale, and/or being pestered via the forum's Private Messaging system. Harassing any member, including staff, will result in an instant, permanent banning, without you even getting a warning.
4: Try to stay on-topic. It's not polite, for example, in the middle of a topic about Gobbo tribes, to go off talking about the dog who ran past your house last week.
5: Please do not double-post, or otherwise make multiple posts in a row without someone else replying to you first. If you need to add something to a post you've already made, you do have an edit button at your disposal - use it wisely. However, if a thread neccessitates multiple posts in a row, such as a multi-episode fan-story, or something similar, punishment will not be given.
6: Do not give out personal information about yourself or others. This is not a wise thing to do, and any posts containing such things will be removed by the staff on sight. Also forbidden is the posting of things such as other people's AIM screennames and e-mail addresses - they might not want you giving them out.
However, it is ok to post your own AIM screenname or your e-mail address, provided that you're aware of the risks of doing so (please be aware that we cannot be held responsible, nor can we help, if these things are misused by another reader of the forums, however).
7: The forum's Private Messaging (PM) system is not intended to be used for flaming, spamming, trolling, or otherwise harassing forum users, so please do not use it for this purpose.
8: With text-based signatures, please try to keep them to four or five lines of text. For signature images, please try to keep them to a size of 330 pixels wide, by 100 pixels high. If your signature is too large, you will be informed either on the board itself, or via the Private Messaging system, and given a week or so to change the offending signature to a correctly-sized one. If you don't do this, your signature will be removed, and a warning issued.
Signatures are not allowed to contain religious, sexual, race-related, or political subjects, flaming, trolling, or other harassment, amongst other things. Swearing is also not permitted, as stated in rule 7. Please use common sense.
9: Please keep your avatar size to 100x100 pixels, or less (100x100 is the maximum allowed by the forum system). As with the signature rule, please make sure that your avatar adheres to the rules regarding what can and can't be posted on these forums.
10: Posting an image in a post is allowed, provided it is small (in both filesize and physical size). Keep to the other forum rules with regard to what sort of images you are allowed to post. Please make sure that images you post are on your own webspace - linking to images belonging to other sites is bandwidth theft, and is not allowed here.
If you need image hosting, then sign up for a free account on www.photobucket.com (you can also use this for signature images, as well as for custom avatars).
11: Multiple accounts are not allowed - you only need one.
12: Stealing other peoples' artwork, writing, or other works is extremely rude, and is not allowed here. The same goes for taking others' work, editing it a little bit, and claiming it as your own.
13: "Forumpics", which are often used to insult others, are not tolerated or wanted here, so please do not post them. However, humourous images (that stay within the forum rules) are allowed in topics specifically designated for them.
