Why is a parkway called a parkway if you actually don't run around in grass and swing on swings?

Where can I get the Croc music? I know it's on Corbac, but I can't download it there. And I'd really like some of that on my Ipod...

The only other available download that I know of, is [ link removed with respect to a request Mr. Scharvona made to another site - more information is available later in this thread]. It's a rip of the CD tracks used for the Windows 95 port of the game (and thus includes the map themes, unlike the tracks from the Saturn version). I wouldn't normally link to it, but I really don't think anyone will mind. Especially not since everyone here already seems to own at least one copy of the game. If you'd like to get at the (complete) audio from the PSX version of the game (and, also, get at Croc 2's music), and you use Windows, you could use a tool such as PSMplay or PsxMC to rip the XA audio tracks to WAV or AIFF files, and then use a tool such as Audacity to convert these to MP3s.

I downloaded them all back when they were on Corbac... Croc's music is one of my favorite video game soundtracks. Props to Justin Scharvona!

I loved the music on this game. When i was like 8 or 9 i used to record the music onto an audio tape. Now (i'm 14) i recorded the music off an emulator onto the computer.

Back in 1999, I used to record mix-tapes with music from Croc 1 (and several other games), too. I had my PSX hooked up to a small hi-fi setup using an RGB SCART cable, which also had RCA phono outputs. I had such fun with that. I tend to make "mix SD Cards" instead, now. Oddly, though, my current one doesn't have any Croc music on it at the moment...

I wouldn't normally link to it, but I really don't think anyone will mind. Apparently ol' Justin Scharvona does. At Corbac, it says, "At the request of Mr Scharvona, the MP3s have been removed from this page. You won't find them on my site anymore." :(I can't imagine why he'd mind at this point, but oh well. I got my Croc 1 music strait from the CD, which I must assume is just as legal as importing music CDs. Not Croc 2 though. Now I have to decide if I should delete the Croc 2 music off my iPod. He made the music himself, after all. But then again, I do own the game... ;D

I wasn't aware of that - I've not had cause to check the Corbac link in quite a while. I've not had any communication from Mr. Scharvona myself, but I'll respect that and will now remove the link that I had posted previously in this thread (there's little point in removing the Corbac link from the site, since it carries the notice about it itself now ).

Yeah I wonder why he would care this many years since the game was released. I just noticed that Mr Scharvona's own site has been redesigned since my last visit and no longer includes a listing of what games he created music for. Strange.

Fact 30 on the Random Facts page says as follows: 30: Only the PlayStation version of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos has the full soundtrack. The PC and Saturn versions have two slightly differing shortened CD-DA (Compact Disc Digital Audio) soundtracks. On the upside, however, you can listen to the music from the PC and Saturn versions in a CD player, just so long as you skip Track 1 (which is the game data). Does that mean you can just pop the game disc into a CD player and the music will play?

Does that mean you can just pop the game disc into a CD player and the music will play? Yep, it does (in fact, back in the days when portable CD players were the dominant kind of portable audio player, I used to load mine up with the game discs in question when I went places ). It also means you can use your CD audio ripper of choice on your CD, and make your own MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, <insert your audio file format of choice here> files from the tracks - just remember to leave track one alone. I would hope that Mr. Scharvona wouldn't mind this, as I don't think anyone would do this with intent to distribute them.

Actually, when I listened to my CD, I thought that I could maybe upload it like a normal CD. So I uploaded it to Itunes and now it's on my Ipod! Is that what you meant by 'CD audio ripper', Forte? Anyway, I now have the Croc music. By the way, Forte, Fact Thirty states that the PC and Saturn versions of Croc 1 have an incomplete soundtrack. Does that mean that the songs themselves are cut short, or entire songs are missing?

That's what I meant by using a CD ripper, aye - iTunes can do that. As for the note in the Random Facts, it means both - nearly all of the Saturn and Windows 95 version tunes are cut short (notable exceptions include the first Baron Dante battle theme, and the credits tune), and quite a number of tunes are missing from both of them (such as the other Baron Dante battle themes, and all manner of music from each world of the game).

Out of curiosity, why would there be more than one music for fighting Baron Dante? You only fight him once.
